Active Citizenship
Active Citizenship will support students to develop a positive and resilient identity through experiential learning. All students should have positive experiences of education, regardless of any barriers they face, as this is a foundation for life-long learning and success.
Active Citizenship helps students to develop an understanding of being part of something bigger than themselves and the curriculum will give opportunities to feel an active part of the school, the local and the wider community.
Active Citizenship strives to stretch students, to challenge their own and other people’s views, ensuring this is done in a controlled, safe and non-judgemental space.
Character goals are an important part of students’ development and is at the core of the Active Citizenship curriculum. Opportunities are given to students to understand and develop these through classroom lessons, project work and outdoor education opportunities.
